Detailed VA Application Instructions
Education Benefits (Form 22-1990)

If you HAVE NOT previously received education benefits from the VA

Select "Education Benefits (Form 22-1990)" from the drop down menu.

Then click

Question 12 and 12a ask about the school and its’ address.  Your answers should look like this.

Question 12b asks about your start date.  Enter the approximate start date of your training.  Questions 12c and d ask about your training details.  Your answers should look like this.

Continue answering the questions until the application is complete.

When complete, click

• Within a few days you will get an email stating that your app is being processed.
• Within 6-8 weeks you will receive in the mail a Certificate of Eligibility stating how much benefits ($) you have available.
• If you need help or want to know your benefit sooner, call 888-442-4551 (option 1, then option 0 to speak with a person). You will quickly be speaking to a friendly, knowledgeable person.
