How can I reinstate my expired CFI?
ATP normally requires that applicants hold a current CFI Certificate prior to attending one of ATP’s Instructor Rating Add-On programs. However, applicants who possess expired CFI certificates will have their CFI reinstated as a part of the checkride. Such applicants need to “check the reinstatement box” during the FAA application process. This opens the door for questions on other subject matter during the oral portion of the checkride. As an example, examiners may ask questions regarding Fundamentals of Instruction that may not otherwise be asked. As a result of this, additional preparation time is required. Expired CFI Certificate holders who schedule a CFI Add-On rating program will be scheduled for an additional day of ground training, and $500 will be added to the course price.
