RJ Programs Testimonials

The ATP RJ program was an excellent experience and well worth the price. Having had no prior courses/experience in 121 and or jet operations, the program was a great first step towards realizing a long time dream of mine. Everything from the packet I received regarding the outline/summary of events and study guide material all the way through till the final "check ride" was incredibly thorough. Each day worked well off of the last and was enough to challenge the participant yet not overwhelm. I feel as though I was lucky however as there were only four of us at first, and then only three which allowed for increased personal attention and slightly longer sim times. The facility and simulators were clean and well maintained and my experience with the employees who supported the operation was very positive. The instructors were knowledgeable and extremely professional and were an asset to the program. I remember after each sim session I would feel somewhat strained from all the new material yet wanting not to leave as it was incredibly fun.
Shortly after completing the program I was offered an interview with ExpressJet Airlines, of which I got the Job and have been flying for over this past year. I have without reservation in saying that the emphasis placed on checklist and flow knowledge as well as systems integration with emergency scenarios was extremely helpful in my successful completion of training with ExpressJet. I would also like to mention that Mr. Templeton up held a high level of professionalism and was an encouraging figure as I had the opportunity to sit and talk with him throughout the program.”

My name is Matthew Blake Langley and I am a former ATP student. My time with ATP spans from 2008 when I completed the Airline Career Pilot Program all the way to 2012 when I completed the Regional Jet Standards Certification program. Like many others before me, I came to ATP on a budget and a time frame. Given the economic climate in 2008 and the status of the airlines, I immediately returned to my career as a Firefighter and just used my ratings to fly as a side job.
Fast forward to February 2012. I placed a call to ATP and just asked what was involved with the RJ Program. I had no serious intent to take the class as I have spent the last 4 years buying a home, starting a family and knowing that I would never be an airline pilot. I was inquisitive, albeit skeptical of the whole idea that I could get to the airlines. Immediately Paul responded with an exclamation of “Yes, you can.” I asked the standard questions, thanked him for his time and then hung up. Two days later Paul called me back. He did not call to ask me to sign the dotted line, but to see if I had any more questions. Through our conversations Paul made me a believer once again in the dream I have always had. He gave me the confidence that I would be an outstanding asset to any airline based on my work history, flight time and experience. Paul endured my schedule changes, canceled plans and even lost mail to get me in class.
I bought into the RJ Program because of one man’s promise to be a personal asset to my future. Paul checked on me daily despite the fact that he was on vacation for spring break. He called my instructors each day and when I finished the class he went straight to work sending out my resume, promoting my profile on PilotPool.com and personally delivering “Blake as a total package.” I received phone calls from three airlines within a week, and even more within the month. As soon as I finished my first interview (ExpressJet) Paul asked me, “Okay. Which one you want next?” I was floored. I got my interview; technically he doesn’t have to help me anymore, right? Every email I sent, he responded. Every call I placed, he returned. Just how many people does he have to help with this process anyways? It sure seemed like I was the only one.
Now, less than three months after my first skeptical phone call, I got a class date with ExpressJet. The first thing that popped into my head was, “I could not have done it without Paul.” His counsel prepared me mentally, psychologically, professionally and even technically. There is no shortage of words to express my gratitude. ATP is lucky to have him.
Paul Templeton did not just ”do his job.“ I see people that just do the minimum every day. He went beyond all expectations.”

Paul — I am writing this email to you the day after I successfully passed my EMB-145 checkride with Chautauqua Airlines. I can not thank you enough for all the help you have been in me getting to where I am today. Without you and the ATP RJ training program I would not have a job today. I interviewed back in November and they told me in the interview the only reason I was there for an interview with such low multi time was because of your recommendation and that I successfully completed the RJ training program. You are a man of your word. I did my part in studying and doing well in the course and you did everything for me to get me an interview like you said you would.
My training at ATP was amazing. It prepared me so well for training here at flight safety. My instructor here at flight safety was amazed how well I was doing and I credited it all to you guys over at ATP. I had a couple instructors ask me about the RJ program that I took and they were amazed at the level and quality of training I received. Without ATP and the RJ program I don't know where I would be today, probably waiting for the sky dive season to open up again so I could fly more jumpers.
Thanks again Paul for all your help and recommendation. Down the road I would be grateful if I could become a RJ instructor like Heath Martin. He was a great instructor and helped a lot and I would love to pass on my knowledge that I learn in the airline industry to new aspiring airline pilots like he did for me. Hope to keep in touch Paul.”

I recently returned from Jacksonville having successfully completed ATP’s Regional Jet Certification Standards course! From start to finish, I was blown away with the level of instruction I received as well as the quality of the simulator training. It definitely felt like I was a working First Officer for a regional airline!
The instructors did a phenomenal job of helping us develop good habits with the profile flows and callouts, giving me much-needed confidence as I head into my first airline ground school. The skills I’ve learned here — how to handle an in-flight engine fire, programming the FMS, working as a crew in a fast-paced flying environment — are all things that will bolster my chances for success at the next level.”

I am writing this email after my second day of IOE and about 8 hours of Dash 8 flying. What a blast. In one day I’ve seen several busy airports and and I wanted you to know that the preparation I was given by ATP and you personally has really helped me along.
I can’t stress enough the value of the RJ Course. Even though I’m flying a turboprop, the same sort of principles apply that are taught, and I think I am ahead of the game at this stage thanks to ATP.
CommutAir is expanding, and I expect to see a lot more hiring coming in the next few months. Were also in the process of acquiring several Q300s which will also require more hiring.
CommutAir is and will continue to be a great place to work. My experience so far has been fantastic. ”

I wanted to let you know that I completed my airline training at Air Wisconsin successfully, this past Friday! IOE starts Tuesday and I am very excited.
Taking the RJ course helped me tremendously with Sim training. Sim training was still of course very challenging, but if I had not taken the jet course, my stress levels would’ve been much higher. Simple things like knowing how to work the autopilot, being familiar with the FMS and the cockpit surroundings worked to my advantage. One specific compliment that I received from one of my instructors was that my partner and I worked very well together as a crew. I thank ATP for giving me those skills during the Career Program and Jet Course. Also, the preparation that I had to do before the jet course such as memorizing profiles and flows, made mastering flows at Air Wisconsin much simpler. I continue to tell anyone I know that’s looking to go to an airline to consider this course because of how much I feel it helped me.
I also want to tell you how valuable I think Paul Templeton is to ATP. Any time prior to the jet course if I was having issues or needed help, he was just a phone call away and always willing to help. During the course he was probably the most patient and friendly instructor I have ever dealt with in my entire aviation career. You can tell he wants you to succeed both in the course and after you complete it. After the jet course he was able to help me get a speedy interview at a regional.”
